These two are my favorite, but there are around 7 all over the Internet. But needless to say the New York Times loved us!!! I have been getting some great response to. Lets hope some of THOSE people come to see it. =P

The New York Times
had a rave review of the show:

"The genial production, written by Brooks Reeves and directed by Dan Barnes and Leta Tremblay, feels well workshopped and moves at a comfortable pace, inducing more than a few chuckles. The tireless Mr. Vandegrift, Mr. Bussler, Jyll Marie Mihlek and Rebecca Jones assume multiple roles and arrange the minimal sets, and much of the cast deftly renders a climactic tango at the Rhyme Town Ball, with striking choreography by Alberto Peart."

NYTHEATRE.COM
Loves us too, with a couple of critiques I honestly think have some merit:

"The plot revolves around slick deadpan private detective Jack B Nimble (Adam La Faci)—who lost his true love Jill in a horrible accident. Jack is hired by Humpty Dumpty (played by versatile actor Loren Vandegrift, who shines also as the cooey, Capote-esque Frog and various other roles here) to find out if his wife Bo Peep is cheating on him. This leads to a series of events, and encounters with many characters (all actors except La Faci play multiple roles) who try to help—or hinder—our man from solving the case. It also leads to a sizzling romance with classic femme fatale Bo Peep (Chloe Demrovsky), who we know is trouble the moment we see her.The dialogue here is just so good, as it combines the genres flawlessly: In describing Humpty Dumpty after his death: "He was a big egg with a thin shell." Or, when Goldilocks is seated at the bar trying out new drinks: "This one is too strong, this one, too weak. And this one is just right." Then the response from the bartender: "For a six year old, she can really pack ‘em down." It’s a real payoff for the audience as well, in that it does point out how nursery rhymes really are a great unifier."

I’ll keep everyone updated, but the show is going great and the sales are still going strong. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come, because there are seats available, especially weekdays and Sunday nights!

So my theatre company, State of Play Theatre , just opened the show we have been developing, The City That Cried Wolf, at 59E59 Theater in New York. 59E59 picked up our show from the 2006 New York Fringe Festival and we have been updating and rehearsing the changes to the play ever since. Our previews began on December 4th and we have our official opening on the 11th of December. The play is very ensemble based and I play a ton of different roles from the targeted councilman Humpty Dumpty, to the villainous Big Bad Wolf. Click on the link above to get to our companies site to get more information or buy tickets online. The New York Times and other large papers are reviewing the show so I will report back later with them. Tickets are selling fast so make sure to grab some while you can.

Taking the Next Step

So I write this as my first real post. I have decided to take this site and make it more of a place to where I can share a bit about who I really am. That sounds like a load of bs, which it kind of is. Really I just want to keep record of the stuff going on in my life so I can look back and reflect on where things have come. I figure that putting this information about my journey is what this whole new world of Social Networking is all about. If an agent that has potential interest in me lands him or her self here, then its probably best they get to know me now.

So over the past 4 or 5 month I have been keeping busy in various Off off broadway productions and student/independent films. While the experiences have been great, I am starting to feel like I need to be putting my efforts into getting into higher end work. The issue is that all the known and easily accessible audition notices are really only filled with this lower tier work. So now I find myself realizing that I need to just go out and get myself and agent!

Trying to get an agent has been something I had been fearing and putting of for a number of reasons. The biggest being that I hate the idea of forcing myself upon people that dont want me to be there. The nature of finding an agent, well at least succeeding at finding an agent, involves knocking down doors and making yourself known until someone takes an interest. This involves a lot of being blown off, which is something I need to deal with.

So right after Christmas I am coming back to the city full of vigor and ready to attack this task in the following ways (i hope)…..

Targeted Mailings to Agents that are not too large, but not too smalll….juuuust right…

Doing walk ins with agents that are more commercial focused, because I hear that is somehow less difficult to walk into off the street

Audition for interview agent based companies like One on One Productions . These companies let you have time infront of agents to show off what you are capable of. This is exciting because the hardest part of getting an agent is finding ways for them to see what you are capable of.

Take a class that focuses more on selling yourself as an actor instead of improving your acting techniques. While I love the later kinds of classes, I need to know what and how to go about the commercial side of this business I have gotten myself involved in. Knowledge is power and the more I can figure out the better position I am in. As you can tell I am writing all this mostly as a personal motivation

To be determined

This is only agent fetching related stuff. I also plan on working on casting agents and various extra casting offices. Anyway there is a lot more to talk about, but I dont want to burn myself out on this whole ‘blogging’ thing too soon. Its 6:30 in the morning and I must sleep. Stupid House and Ugly Betty keeping me up all damn night!

Until next time
-Loren (The Soon to not be agentless making his way through NYC…actor)

I am in a major job transition right now, as well as rehersing my ass off in a couple of states so I haven’t had the time to ‘blog’ as it were. Granted I realize no one is reading this…yet….but I really want to get into a good habit about everything. I am considering combining my blog with more of my interests instead of just using it as a means for getting spotted. I feel like I can make the main page for that, and then branch into all my interests via this blog……Coming Soon!….Really!

So work has been a total nightmare this past week and has kept me from the joys of working on this site. That is going to change later this week as I will be rehersing in the middle of nowhere and shall have ample time for both work and play. I do expect the main portion of my site will be presenting the acting/singing/dancing tripple threat that is me :-P, making the blogg simply a section of the main navigation. I realize that my day to day life updates are not exactly what a potential casting agent really cares about, and as that is sort of the goal of this site, then I must make it so. I will also be using this site as a sort of test ground for the new WEB PAGES FOR PERFORMER business I am in the process of developing. I figure actors/singers/artists, need a resource for good looking and reliable site, without all the cost. Plus I am hoping that I will get referals due to my own acting aspirations. I will keep everyone informed.

Ok off to bed now, but maybe I’ll get to make a little post tommorow at work….mwahahah
